Project
Summary:
The purpose of this pilot study
was to determine the effects
of supplementation with Lean
Tabs™ and Cheat Tabs™ on changes in body composition.
A secondary purpose was to document the safety of this product using comprehensive
clinical chemistry panels of serum, plasma, and whole blood. After the
protocol was approved by an external Institutional Review Board, ten recreationally
active men and women (aged 18-40) gave informed consent, were cleared for
participation by passing a screening physical, and were randomly assigned
to receive Lean Tabs™ + Cheat Tabs™ (n=5) or a placebo (n=5).
Following baseline testing, both groups underwent eight-weeks of daily
supplementation (2 capsules of each, three times per day; 12 total capsules/day]).
Diet and physical activity were held constant throughout the study. Although
body weight did not change significantly, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry
(DEXA) indicated that subjects in the Lean Tabs + Cheat Tabs group increased
their lean mass by 2.3%, and had significant decreases in fat mass (-8.3%,
p < 0.007) from pre to post-testing. A preliminary analysis of safety
data indicated no negative changes in various markers of health (comprehensive
clinical panels or serum, plasma, and whole blood) as a result of supplementation.
These data indicate that eight-weeks of supplementation with Lean Tabs
+ Cheat Tabs results in beneficial changes in body composition. |
